Product source: This product is sourced from Grassroots Harm Reduction for distribution by the temple of harm reduction. Hofmann reagent is the second step in screening for LSD. It can also provide presumptive indications for DMT, 5-MeO-DMT, and other tryptamines. Use Ehrlich’s reagent first to make sure you have an indole. Grassroots Harm Reduction prices these tools to support broad access. Grassroots Harm Reduction states that it distributes its proceeds to independent, peer-based harm reduction organizations around the country. Good for 50 to 75 tests. Instructions and a color chart appear below and come with every order.

Instructions for Using Hofmann Reagent

To use the Hofmann reagent, put a tiny bit of your substance on a white ceramic plate. Place one drop of reagent on the sample. (Some reagents require a drop from two separate bottles, but Hofmann reagent consists of only one bottle.) Compare the color change to the color bars in the chart below. Use Ehrlich’s reagent first.

Note: Sometimes ink from blotter art can bleed into the reagent and distort the color reaction. Although this is rare, if possible test a tiny piece of the blotter that doesn’t contain ink.

Remember, reagents cannot detect purity, only presence. Store them in a refrigerator. Wash the plate thoroughly when done.
