Our Practice
How the Temple’s beliefs are enacted
in the material work of harm reduction.
the temple of harm reduction practices its religion through the distribution of the sacraments named above, through the dissemination of accurate information regarding substances and their use, through the support of persons who use substances and the loved ones of those persons, and through the cultivation of a congregation united in the conviction that the preservation of life is sacred.
The Temple operates nationally because the obligation to preserve Sacred Life is not bounded by state lines. Our Followers engage in religious activity across the United States. The Temple’s religious exercise includes worship, teaching, ceremony, care, education, harm reduction practice, and the gathering of members for religious purposes. The duty to keep a body alive is part of that sincere religious exercise.
The Temple maintains records of its membership, sacramental activity, care practices, and theological deliberations. These records preserve the life and memory of the congregation. They help us remain accountable to our beliefs, our practices, and one another.
