State Privacy Law Addendum
This State Privacy Law Addendum supplements the Privacy Notice and applies only to residents of states with applicable comprehensive privacy laws, to the extent those laws apply to the Temple’s processing of personal information.
Article 1: Categories of Personal Information Collected and Disclosed
In the preceding 12 months, the Temple may have collected and disclosed for business or operational purposes the following categories of personal information, depending on how you interact with the Services:

The categories of recipients to whom we may disclose these categories of personal information are described in the Privacy Notice under How We Disclose Personal Information.
Article 2: Purposes for Collection, Use, and Disclosure
We collect, use, and disclose personal information for the business and operational purposes described in the Privacy Notice, including to operate the Services, process donations, manage fundraising and outreach, respond to requests, administer events and volunteer opportunities, improve functionality, maintain security, comply with law, and protect rights and safety.
Article 3: California Privacy Rights
If you are a California resident, and to the extent the California Consumer Privacy Act, as amended by the California Privacy Rights Act (“CCPA/CPRA”), applies to the Temple’s processing activities, you may have the right to:
know the categories of personal information we collected about you, the categories of sources, the business or commercial purposes for collection, the categories of recipients, and the categories of personal information disclosed, sold, or shared;
request access to the specific pieces of personal information we collected about you;
request correction of inaccurate personal information;
request deletion of personal information, subject to legal exceptions;
opt out of the sale or sharing of personal information;
limit the use and disclosure of sensitive personal information, to the extent required by law; and
not be discriminated against for exercising your privacy rights.
California residents may also designate an authorized agent to submit requests on their behalf, subject to identity and authorization verification requirements.
Article 4: Notice of Sale/Sharing and Targeted Advertising
The Temple does not sell personal information for money. However, certain analytics, social media, advertising, fundraising pixels, chat technologies, or interaction-monitoring tools may be considered “sharing” under California law or a “sale” or processing for targeted advertising under other state laws.
If the Temple uses such technologies, users in applicable jurisdictions may have the right to opt out by using the cookie settings tool, enabling a recognized opt-out preference signal where supported, or submitting a request using the methods listed below.

Article 5: Sensitive Personal Information
To the extent the Temple collects sensitive personal information covered by California or other state privacy laws, the Temple uses that information only for the purposes described in this Agreement, for purposes reasonably expected by the individual, with consent where required, or as otherwise permitted by law.
The Temple does not use or disclose sensitive personal information to infer characteristics for unrelated commercial purposes.
Article 6: Appeals Process for Certain State Residents
Residents of certain states, including Colorado, Connecticut, Virginia, Montana, Oregon, Texas, Delaware, Iowa, Nebraska, New Hampshire, New Jersey, Tennessee, Minnesota, Maryland, Indiana, Kentucky, and Rhode Island, may have the right to appeal a denial of a privacy request, depending on the law that applies.
To submit an appeal, contact us at privacy@templeofharmreduction.org with the subject line “Privacy Request Appeal.” We will review and respond within the timeframe required by applicable law.
Article 7: Deidentified Data
The Temple may use or disclose deidentified information as permitted by law and will not attempt to reidentify deidentified data except as permitted by applicable law.
Article 8: Data Retention Disclosure
We retain personal information for the period reasonably necessary to achieve the purposes described in this Agreement, taking into account the nature and sensitivity of the information, the purposes for which it was collected, risk of harm from unauthorized use or disclosure, legal obligations, tax and accounting rules, donation and nonprofit recordkeeping requirements, and the need to resolve disputes or enforce agreements.
Article 9: Shine the Light Disclosure for California Residents
California Civil Code Section 1798.83 may permit California residents to request certain information regarding disclosure of personal information to third parties for their direct marketing purposes. The Temple does not disclose personal information to third parties for their own direct marketing purposes without appropriate authorization. Article 11: SMS and Mobile Messaging Disclosure
If you opt in to receive text messages from the Temple, you agree to receive recurring or one-time messages at the phone number you provide, depending on the program. Message frequency may vary. Message and data rates may apply.
You can opt out at any time by replying STOP, and you may request help by replying HELP or contacting us at legal@templeofharmreduction.org. Consent to receive text messages is not a condition of donation, participation, or use of the Services.
